FAQ

Q: Do I need a passport?
A: Yes, a passport is needed…….British subjects and citizens of Commonwealth countries, and USA citizens, as well as many other countries who have a valid passport and an onward or return ticket from Belize do not need to obtain a visa.

Q: I've booked my International flights now what do I do?
A Now its time to make a room reservation, we can also book your flight to Placencia!

Q: How do you get to Placencia?
A: From Belize City, there are flights several times a day on the two national airlines; Maya Island Air and Tropic Air. Once we have your International Flight information, we would be happy to book your flights to Placencia. If you International flight is alittle late……don't worry ..our local airline will put you on the later flight and call us!! There is also bus service. You will probably take a bus from Belize City to Belmopan and then to Dangriga, and then transfer to a bus to Placencia.

Q: Can I rent a car anywhere in Placencia?
A: If you want to fly to Placencia and then rent a car, we can arrange it for you through a local rental company www.barefootrentals.net which operates from Nautical Inn resort. There are other car rental companies at the International airport. It's a 4 hour drive from Belize international to Placencia.

Q: How do you get to the Nautical Inn?
A: If you fly in, our shuttle will pick you up at the airport. Just let us know your flight details. If you take the bus, it passes the hotel so please let the driver know you wish to get off at Nautical Inn.

Q: How do you get around from the hotel?
A: Within walking distance you will find several small grocery stores and Lola's Arts and other resort properties. If you don't have a car, you can use taxis to go further. Several bigger convenience stores, gift shop, bars and restaurants are located about 4 miles south from us. Occasionally the Nautical Inn Van will be making unscheduled trips to Placencia Village, and you're welcome to ride along.

Q: How are the rooms furnished?
A: All our rooms have A/C, cable TV, DD telephone, coffee maker, ceiling fans and bedding differs with each category. Our deluxe rooms are on the 2nd floor and have one king bed. Our standard rooms are on the first floor and have either one queen or two double beds and our family style room are also on the 1st floor having 3 beds (a queen, a double and a single)

Q: What about power and electrical appliances?
A: Electricity at the Nautical Inn is 110V/60Hz (same as the US).

Hotel services

Q: Is there Internet service?
A: Yes. We have a computer for guests use. We are on DSL 128 kbs.

Q: Can I change money at the hotel?
A: Yes you can change US dollars to Belize dollars at the hotel, although US currency is welcome everywhere. The exchange rate is $1.00USD =$2.00BZ

Q: Do you accept Credit cards?
A: Yes we accept Master card and VISA. There is no charge to pay your bill with a credit card. We also accept cash and Traveler's checks.

Q: Are there facilities for cooking our own meals?
A: None of the rooms at Nautical Inn currently have kitchenettes. Our family style rooms have Mini fridge and microwave. Our restaurant serves meals 3 times a day.

Q: What are the restaurants like?
A: Besides the Oar House restaurant at the Nautical Inn, there are a several local favorites as well as other resorts that we would be happy to suggest!! Most places serve seafood, as well as local and international cuisine.

Q: Do you have service charge? What about tipping?
A: Yes, we have an 8% service charge on room, bar and restaurant. The purpose of a service charge is to allow fair distribution of what would normally be “tips” from our guests to all employees at the Nautical Inn. Nautical Inn distributes 100% of the tips at the end of the month to all employees except for tour guides. Any additional tips can be given directly to any employee for outstanding service.

Q: What is the weather like?
A: Belize has tropical weather with two seasons, wet and dry. The rainy season is considered t o be June through November with September and October as the wettest….but usually the days are sunny with the showers occurring at nighttime.

Q: What is the beach like….and can I swim in it?
A: We have some of the best beaches in Belize! You can walk out several hundred feet in waist deep water. We also have a freshwater pool. The water temperature is 75-85 degrees Fahrenheit year round.

Q: Are the beaches private?
A: One of the great things about Belize is that the public is always allowed to use the waterfront. Locals and tourists wander up and down the beach to their hearts' content.

Activities/Tours

Q: What sports or activities are included with the room?
A: We have canoes and bicycles available for guests to use on a first-come first-served basis.

Q: How can we book a tour?
A: We normally book tours one to two days in advance. The front desk will help you set up each activity once you are at the hotel. Ask about any inland or sea adventure.

Q: What's included in a tour?
A: All tour rate covers lunch, gears and park fees. Tips are not included.

Q: What to bring?
A: Bug spray, sun block, sunglasses, light pants, light shirt, one long sleeve shirt, hat, book , binoculars and camera
